Intended Purpose
The Endotracheal tube is designed to establish and maintain a clear airway for optimal oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange.
Suggested Instructions for Use - Cuffed ETTs
- Check the patient's trachea to select the correct tube size and insert through the nasal passage.
- Remove the sterile tracheal tube from its packaging.
- Visually inspect the main tube lumen for patency before intubation.
- Ensure the cuff, pilot balloon, and valve are leak-proof by inflating with air using a Luer syringe.
- Intubate the patient using standard medical techniques and confirm placement with a laryngoscope.
- Inflate the cuff to provide an effective seal without exceeding 2.5kPa pressure.
- Secure the tube in place and monitor cuff pressure periodically during intubation.
- Clean sputum and monitor patient condition throughout intubation.
- Deflate the cuff before extubation and dispose of the tube properly.
Contraindications
- Throat edema
- Acute tracheal inflammation
- Tracheal compression from thoracic aortic aneurysm
- Severe bleeding
- Cervical spinal injuries
Cautions
- For single use only; do not use if expired.
- Trained healthcare personnel should perform intubation.
- Intubation period should not exceed 30 days.
- Avoid laser application on the tube.
- Use only if packaging is intact and unopened.
- Select tube size based on patient's characteristics.
- Dispose of product and packaging according to hospital or environmental regulations.
