Scope of application
Our Single-Use Sterile Urethral Catheterization Set (Silicone) is meticulously designed for use by medical institutions. It serves a critical role in catheterization, seamless urine collection, and accurate sampling of patients.

Instruction for Use
  1. Ensure patients or their family members are thoroughly informed of the reasons for catheterization, the methods employed, potential discomforts, strategies to alleviate any discomfort, possible complications, and the vital role of nursing cooperation post-catheterization.
  2. Verify the product specification, check for any damage to the package, and ensure the Foley catheter balloon is intact before use.
  3. Guide the patient to take deep breaths during the intubation process to ease insertion.
  4. Disinfect the patient's perineum thoroughly to maintain a sterile environment.
  5. Connect the Foley catheter to the urine bag, ensuring it is securely attached before opening the Foley catheter.
  6. Select an appropriate lubricant to efficiently lubricate the Foley catheter for smooth insertion.
  7. Gently insert the Foley catheter into the urethra. Once urine flow is observed, insert an additional 5-6cm for optimal placement.
  8. Carefully inject the correct volume of sterile water into the balloon. Gently pull the Foley catheter outward until resistance is felt, ensuring it is securely in place.
  9. When removal is necessary, first use a syringe to drain the fluid from the balloon to prevent balloon collapse. Do not force drainage, as this could complicate tube removal. Gently extract the Foley catheter.

Contraindication
  • Exercise caution for individuals allergic to natural rubber;
  • Usage is strictly prohibited for patients with severe Urethritis, severe urethral stricture, acute Prostatitis, or urethral rupture due to blunt or penetrating trauma.

Precautions, Warnings, and Indicative Notes

  1. This product is designed for single-use only. Thoroughly read the manual before use. Do not use the product beyond its expiration date;
  2. This product is intended for operation and use solely by medical professionals;
  3. Sterilized using ethylene oxide, this product must not be used if the packaging is compromised;
  4. Avoid lubricants containing petroleum base to maintain product integrity;
  5. Select the Foley catheter size appropriately. Use smaller sizes for children or patients with urethral stricture;
  6. During insertion, proceed gently to avoid damaging the urethral mucosa. Avoid inserting the catheter too deeply or too shallowly and minimize repeat insertions;
  7. Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques during use. Only inject sterile water into the balloon, ensuring the volume does not exceed the marked capacity. Avoid rapid inflation when injecting water;
  8. For patients with an overfilled bladder who are extremely weak, urinate slowly. The initial urine volume should not exceed 1000mL to prevent sudden bladder decompression, which could cause bleeding or fainting;
  9. When measuring residual urine, instruct the patient to urinate first, then catheterize. Normal residual urine volume is 5-10mL. If it exceeds 100mL, conduct catheterization;
  10. During indwelling catheterization, frequently check the Foley catheter's fixation to ensure it remains in place. Replace the Foley catheter following clinical nursing norms or evidence-based guidelines. Allow the urethra to relax for a few hours before reinserting;
  11. If resistance is encountered while removing the Foley catheter, avoid pulling it out forcefully to prevent urethral damage;
  12. When removing the Foley catheter, carefully insert an empty syringe into the valve to let the water drain naturally as per the water injection method. Alternatively, you can cut off the piston to allow natural drainage before extraction. If resistance is encountered, do not pull out the catheter forcefully to avoid damaging the urethra;
  13. If the sterile water in the balloon fails to discharge and no other measures work, contact the manufacturer immediately for guidance. It is recommended to use a guide wire or perform a perineal puncture under ultrasound to remove the sterile water;
  14. For patients exhibiting emotional instability or uncontrollable behavior, enhanced nursing care is essential. A single lumen Foley catheter is recommended. If necessary, implement appropriate restraints to prevent the patient from removing the catheter themselves, which could cause serious internal damage.
